Spring Football

A great way to shake those pre-summer blues...Tomorrow is the OU spring football scrimmage, and will be televised on ESPN, starting at 12:00 Noon MST. They are expecting 40,000 at the stadium. The exciting thing this year will be the scramble to see who gets the starting QB job. The front runner is a kid from Zach and Clark's high school, Putnam City North. He is a red-shirt freshman, and has an arm like a cannon. During his senior year, he was a tutor and the local elementary school, and Owen had his picture taken with him...who knows. ;-)

Summer is so long with no football....this will help.

Dale,
Kathy and I have the exact same idea. It's almost enough to make you cry when the Superbowl ends. It's at that moment you know you won't be watching another game for 6 months. Yes there are scrimage games but they're just not the same.

Zach,
You have to look at it this way. He may play college football and he may even go pro someday but long after his career is over you'll still be making music that everybody will enjoy and recognize as yours, long after his name has faded. Sports legends are just that.....legends. Legends are talked about. Music is something you give to people that is enjoyed long after a you made it, over and over again, not just talked about. How many times can you watch the same game or play without getting tired of it. Good music never gets old. I'm sure we all have songs we've listened to hundreds if not thousands of times.
Zach, through your music you will be giving a gift that will never fade. Other than family and the gospel, I can't think of anything better. We may not say it as often as we should be we are all very proud of your accomplishments.

Zach,

I'm not sure this will come across in the most politically correct way but GET OVER IT. I volunteered too and no one ever recognized me on a blog that could be seen by the entire world, but I'm not bitter, I got over it, it's not a big deal that some people get all the attention and worldly glory while the rest of us wait and serve patiently hoping for an eternal reward. J/K Thanks for volunteering, I really appreciate all you do and all the nice stuff Brian said too.

its not that i wanted the attention or that i hold a grude against this guy to this day...it just really annoyed me at the time because when it came right down to it, he just wasn't a nice guy...but whatever...maybe he'll figure things out somewhere down the road...thanks for all of your kind words!
