Pretty cute, don't you think?

Happy Halloween!

FUNNY

OK, we laughed til we cried. In honor of the 2008 summer games, you gotta watch his amazing gymnastics clip.

THEN, search YouTube for anything else Paul Hunt gymnastics. You will LOVE it! The uneven bars routine is, I think, my favorite.

For anyone who has worked in a school or...

...just wants a good laugh.

SCHOOL TEACHERS, I BET YOU THOUGHT YOU HAD HEARD AND SEEN IT ALL!!
OKAY.

How would you pronounce this child's name?

Le-a (written just like that)

Leah?? NO Lee - A??
NOPE Lay - a??
NO Lei?? Guess Again.

It's pronounced 'Ledasha' Oh yes...you read it right. This child attends a school in Livingston Parish, LA. Her mother is irate because everyone is getting her name wrong. SO, if you see something come across your desk like this, please remember to pronounce it correctly. When the mother was asked about the pronunciation of the name, she said 'the dash don't be silent'

I laughed so hard at this. I think I could name a few parents that fit this mold.

I thought we were supposed to put our weights here today.

Well, if I'm wrong, then I'm wrong.
Anyways, I weighed 263 this morning, and that was after eating roast, mashed potatoes with gravy, and rolls for dinner yesterday. MAN, IT WAS GOOD!!!!!!!

Family - A True Blessing

Thought I would add some humor to this post so that I don't get too emotional.

I just wanted to write and thank each and everyone of you for your thoughts and prayers over the past two weeks. I could truly feel people praying for me all across the United States and could feel the spirit that was within me.

I'm one of the very lucky women who received a clean bill of health from my biopsies and I realize that our Heavenly Father is watching over me, for which I'm so thankful.

I'm also so thankful to have each of you in my life. Just knowing that you all are there for me and Brian whenever we need you means more than you could possibly know.

I hope everyone has a great weekend and do something fun together and enjoy this precious life that we have been given.

Sorry to be so serious but I wanted y'all to know how special you are and to thank you once again.!!!!

Love to everyone - Kathy

P.S. - Gotta love those rabbit ears!!!

Biggest Loser Week 1 - Initial Weigh In

Alrighty, the weights are in:
LeAnn - 144
Jeri - 191.5
Camille - 194
Boyd - 204
Jason - 218.8
Brian - 266
Dale - 267

Each week, I'll post your beggining weight with your new weight and a percentage of how much you've lost. All of you emailed your weight to me this week, which was great and we can continue that way, OR you can just post your weight here on the blog. BUT in order to keep the blog clear for others, post your weight as a comment to whoever posts first. I ususally post my weight first thing Monday morning, so you can comment to my post and give your weight there. Does that make sense? Good luck this week!

Week 1 Challenge of the Week (10/13 - 10/19)

Get a notebook and KEEP a RECORD! Have one place where you keep track of everything: your minutes of exercise, water drank, vitamins swallowed, food consumed.

So, this is an easy 10 points - just get a notebook and write things down. (You don't have to be 100% you just have to get started to get the challenge points this week).

BIGGEST LOSER - Let's do it!

Alright, Biggest Loser Contestants, the game begins tomorrow, October 13th! Here are the rules for the Price Family Biggest Loser of 2008:

  • You must weigh in on the SAME scale every Monday - no "weight shopping" on different scales!
  • You must post your weight to the blog or in an email to me (Camille) no later than midnight on Mondays. To keep the blog uncluttered, post your weight as a comment to whomever posts their weight first that week. Does that make sense?
  • Results will be posted ON THE BLOG every Tuesday. If you want me to email the results to you, you'll have to let me know.
  • Your weight as of 10/13/2008 is your beginning weight. I realize that several of us have shed some pounds this year, but this game is not retroactive - sorry!
  • The winner of the Grand Prize will be the person who loses the largest PERCENTAGE of weight in the next 10 weeks. Final weigh-in will be Monday, December 15th by midnight.
  • Prize money contributions: you can either hold onto it until Dec. 15th and then send it to the winner, OR you can put it in my PayPal account where it will sit in holding until we have a winner. My PayPal account address is thegolds11@msn.com. Let me know which you all plan to do and how much you all plan to contribute (if you haven't already).

NOTE - once you start the Biggest Loser contest, and commit funds to the Prize Money, you're in it to the end. You can't quit halfway through. Is that a deal?

We will ALSO have a Biggest Changer for 2008. You DO NOT have to compete in this to be part of the Biggest Loser contest. This is just an added bonus for those of us who like incentives to develop healthy habits and make lasting changes. These are the rules:

  • Keep track of your Point Possibilities (explained below), then calculate your points and post/send those numbers in with your Monday weight. Your total points will be posted next to your results on Tuesdays.
  • You must send in your points weekly - no "saving up." I will only add up a week's worth of points each week. Does that make sense?
  • The winner of the Points Prize will be the person who has the highest number of points as of Monday, December 15th by midnight. The Biggest Changer Prize will be either money OR a gift certificate of some sort.
  • IT IS POSSIBLE to be the Biggest Loser AND the Biggest Changer for 2008.

These are the Point Possibilities (50 points possible each week):

  1. Drink 8 (8 oz.) glasses of water each day - worth 1 point per day (must have ALL 8 cups).
  2. Excercise 3 times per week - worth 2 points for every 30 minutes of real exercise. (MAX. possible, 12 points/180 minutes of exercise per week)
  3. Take a multivitamin each day - worth 1 point per day
  4. Keep a Food Diary (write down EVERYTHING you eat & drink) - worth 2 points per day. Calculate carbs and/or calories for extra benefit.
  5. Challenge of the Week - worth 10 points.

So, enjoy a big calorie, carb loaded meal tonight, and let the games begin!

Here we go again...

I don't know if any of you were having problems with reading the metalic fridge, but I decided to try the retro fridge to see if it would be better. Let me know what you think.

Love your computer geek sister!!

Redneck Fire Alarm

I don't know where my friend finds these things.
This is pretty funny though.

Tornado in Enterprise

Zach sent an email yesterday that he was okay. He said that they went to the church for two hours and he practiced the organ while waiting for the weather to settle. It was an F1 that they had to close the Walmart because of damage... sounds like big time to me. I checked out a local news website for Enterprise and saw a video of someone talking about when the si-reens went off. I hope Zach doesn't come home talking like that... :) He did say that he just wrassled it to the ground... told it to go back home to Oklahoma.

Biggest Loser - some questions

OK - So far we have Boyd & LeAnn, Dale, Jason, Brian & Kathy, Jeri, and me. For anyone still interested, you have until Monday to join up! This is going to be an individual competition, not families, and we start at our current weight as of Monday, 10/13.

Alrighty, now for the questions: Do you want to do this strictly on weight loss, or do we want to do a point system as well? What I mean is, we can set up goals and challenges that are worth so many points (like 8 glasses of water each day for a week = 10 points), so that we are calculating points earned as well as percentage of weight lost each week. Truly, the idea behind this is to develop healthy habits that will help keep the weight off, so I personally like the ideas of having goals and challenges to do each week. In the end, we could have a "points" winner and a "weight-lost" winner, or we could combine the two to have one really BIG loser/winner.

Also, do we want to send the money to a treasurer right away, as the game begins, or do we just agree to pay up on December 15th to whoever is the biggest loser? We were also wondering if we want to use some of the prize money to give out little prizes along the way - prizes for especially difficult weekly challenges, or a halfway-point winner's prize, or something like that. Lemme know what you think! This is going to be fun! I'm excited.

Gimme your ideas asap and I'll put together The Rules and post them here and email them out to everybody before the week is done.

Contest

Would anyone be intersted in doing a Price Family Biggest Loser contest? Anyone who wanted to could pitch in a little $ and then the winner takes all. But it isn't like gambling, because we all win if we lose some weight and inches. :) We could start right away and go through the holidays (or end just before Christmas) or we could wait until the first of the year. What do you think? Any takers?

Remember the Good Old Days?

We were going through some old pictures and found this.

Birthday Birds

Meg used her birthday money on her very own pets, because a goat, 6 outside cats, and an indoor dog are just not enough! She invested in some zebra finches that live in her room. They shall remain nameless because she hasn't picked names for them yet. But they are so cute! Remember the Pixar short, "For the Birds"? That is the type of sound they make, like little squeakers - not too loud. She picked a male and a female because she is hoping they will marry and have a family - so that should be an adventure! We'll keep you all posted!

Economic Rescue

So, I'm curious. How do you all feel about the economic bailout/rescue plan?
