Hope your Turkey was Tasty!

My dearest loved ones... I hope you had a great Thanksgiving! We (the Hatches, Boyd's family, Brent and Rex, my family, and Don Borrowman) had a really nice day. After a very satisfying feast, including 12 pies, most of the women folk enjoyed watching all the men folk do the dishes. I say most of us because it was a difficult task for dear Cathy. She sat stiff in her chair for several minutes. When I asked her how she was, she said, "Nervous." Everyone got along really well, the kids didn't fight... much ... and the adults enjoyed the variety of conversations that always abound: religion, politics, bodily functions, sports, school, home projects, kids, more religion, more politics.... The kids were WAY into DDR (Dance Dance Revolution) and we could hear them thumping and jumping upstairs. Jenny and Janie found an old tube of Mom's lipstick and with their lucious lips and fancy dress up clothes, they entertained themselves for hours. It was just a nice day. It's been a very relaxing and enjoyable holiday. We've watched movies and eaten food and played games and eaten more food and talked and eaten food and slept. Then we wake up and eat more food. I have to tell a story about Boyd, who had a bit of a sour stomach after so much food. He had gas. At one time, Russ and LeAnn and I were in the doorway to the dining room when we heard a rumble in the other room. LeAnn went to investigate and, sure enough, it was Boyd.in the office. We heard his toot halfway across the house! Later that night, when we were playing games, Boyd bent over to his left to pick up a game piece and some of that loud gas escaped. Consequently, LeAnn was sitting on his right side and got the full blast. After declarations of disgust and lots of laughter, Boyd still had to retrieve the game piece. Being conscious of LeAnn he leaned to his right to try to get it. Lorn Sleem (a friend from England who is attending BYU), who was sitting to Boyd's left jumped out of his seat and said, "Don't aim that at me!" Welcome to America! We laughed until we cried.

Alright. I'm done. Love to you all! Camille

SPORTS CLIPS WANTED

We're deep into the sporting season. All of you who have video cameras need to put video clips of your kids in their sporting events. For that matter you need to put video clips of all types of your family activities on hear. I think everybody has cable or DSL internet now so there's no excuse for not being able to do this due to a slow internet connection.

WE JUST COULDN'T WAIT!!!!!

Well,
We were going to wait until tomorrow night to put up our tree but we just couldn't wait. We put it up this past Sunday. We've got lots of lights to put up. We're doing colored lights this year so our house won't have that elegant look that white lights give. Instead it will be full of color and life like our household of animals. (when you visit you'll find out)
We'll get lots of pictures as we get them so everyone can see how many lights we really have. Let's put it this way, I'm installing a four socket outlet on the outside of our house to accommodate the lights we'll be putting up. It's going to be an adventure.

Love always.

Medicine for Sam

Yesterday as we had just finished eating and were sitting down to FHE Sam started a cough attack, we have had it running the rounds, so I got a great idea to let him try one of these new fancy cough strips. They are like cough medicine concentrated into a thin strip that you dissolve in your mouth. Well, it was cherry flavored and at first he said he really liked it and then he didn't like it , and then it started to burn. Well as he dashed to the sink to spit it out the poor guy vomitted BIG TIME. THANKS DAD, that was great medicine! Guess I should have tried it out first.

I'll leave you with a joke, re-told to me by Bishop Kris Kelly...Do you know how to catch a polar bear? You cut a large hole in the ice, then you put peas all the way around the hole. Then when the bear comes to take a pea, you kick him in the ice hole.

A request for day to day happenings...

Chris asked for day to day happenings. So, I'll post this little quip.

I am singing a solo in our stake Christmas concert in a few weeks. It is quite high and I am quite nervous. I was practicing when Kitty suddenly piped up and began to "howl" with me. Should I take that as a compliment?

I finally made it!

I'm, so glad that you are all so computer savvy. I have loved reading your letters and seeing your pictures. Now I am finally on board even though Camille helped me figure this out two weeks ago.

Last night in the car on the way home from the store Jack was eating some candy that he had bought in a candy machine. Jenny asked him for some but Jack said no because he was saving some for Justin who was home sick. Jenny started moaning "owie, owie, owie" but still got no response from Jack. Finally she said, "Jack, I'm hurt. You're supposed to give treats to people when they are hurt." Jack's response was "N-O."
Then Jenny asked me how you spell yes then turned to Jack and said, "Jack Y-E-S. (Still no response.) Jack I spelled yes!" She never did get any of his candy.

When Justin and I were waiting for the doctor yesterday I stood up to blow my nose and Justin, always looking for something nice to say, said, "Mom, you're really good at blowing you nose." I've never had such a compliment.

Cindy I am so glad that you have been in our family these 29 years. We all love you!

We can't wait to see you Idahoans at Thanksgiving!

Love, Cathy

Happy Birthday Cindy!!!

Getting into Character a little too much...

Owen took his character of "Chip" a little too seriously (notice his two front teeth). Now he's singing: "All I Want for Christmas is My Two Front Teeth" We go in Monday morning to see the dentist. When I called his pager on Friday, he was at a conference learning about chipped teeth. He also asked what is up with my boys and their teeth? I had to page him on a Friday a month or so ago because Clark had knocked his teeth on his knee while playing football. In case you couldn't tell, our dentist's office is closed on Fridays. Good thing we have a nice dentist that works with us.

Funny Story to Share

OK - viewer discretion is advised, although the things you will read next are all true.

Janie, I am sad to say, is not the best reader, but we are working on it. The other day we were doing just that, working on her reading, which was PAINFULLY slow as beginning reading always is. Janie was sounding out words and I was trying to focus on being patient. While sounding things out, she accidentally put two words together and said out loud,"S - H - I - *. Sh**." I laughed out loud, tried to calm myself, and then corrected her, adding that that word is not a nice word, it is a swear word, although I know she wasn't swearing, but she should avoid saying that word in the future. Well, Janie burst into tears, wailing that she just swore. I couldn't control myself and burst into fits of laughter again. She was so angry that I was laughing that she stormed from the room and climbed into bed where she cried herself to sleep, but only after Meg consolingly told her, "I know, Janie. Mom laughs at me, too sometimes." The reproof still didn't stop me from laughing. I'm still laughing.

It's okay to post without pictures

I just wanted to post something without pictures so that those of you that are waiting to post when you get some pictures will realize that it's okay to post just text. I'm sure that there are things happening in your lives that you can tell the rest of us about. Since I have had no luck getting you on the phone, I would love to keep in touch through this. I know you're all busy, but for those of us that live farther than a days drive, this is a great place to stay connected.

I can't believe that it is almost Thanksgiving. We're having the missionaries and a sister in our ward who is here just for a few months at the FAA Academy. It's great to have a ward family to fill the void of being so far away from our families.

Clark got a job this week at Chick Filet. The good thing about it is that they are closed on Sundays. The owner is a good Christian man that believes in keeping the Sabbath day holy. It's great to know there are a few of those left.

Owen has his 5th grade musical this week. He's Chip in the "Cyber Kids" musical. It is amazing what our music teacher gets out of a bunch of 10 and 11 year olds. Everyone in 5th grade is involved. Zach is finally getting the chance to play "Stars and Stripes Forever" written for eight hands. His piano teacher found 3 other people interested in playing this piece with Zach. He's excited and we're looking forward to hearing it.

Jordan is enjoying life and doing great in school. He has a lot of friends and many of the pink variety. He was invited to a birthday party, but it was on Sunday so he didn't go. The girls brought him a goodie bag after the party with a mug with his name on it and some candy.

Camille, could you add the blogarithm on the Munich Letters page so we know when you've posted something new? I kept checking my email thinking we should have some news from Mom and Dad and finally saw that it was on the Blog.

It's great to hear Mom sounding like a missionary. Dale laughed when she talked about justifying their trip with the dinner appointment and showing of the DVD. How neat it is that she's playing the piano. Piano players are so needed in the church everywhere. Keep practicing all of you piano students. You are going to be of great service as you get older.

Love all ya'll (that's plural for ya'll).
Hope to read more about what's happening in your lives soon.
Chris

Good Morning, Idaho!

Chris talked about planting flowers in October, about it being 85 degrees. Look what we awoke to this morning (about 7:15am)! It was a beautiful storm last night, the snow fell in thick flakes - it even fell straight down instead of horizontally! We had about 2" last night, but it will be gone by this afternoon. I love Idaho.

I love all of you!

TP'd Young Women's Style

Just wanted to show you what we came home to Wednesday night. Notice the flowers in the picture. I planted them in October. They are a little wilted because it has been a little hot the past couple of days, 85 and 83. They last all winter and get really beautiful in the spring. I love Oklahoma!

Sunday night Zach, Clark, Jessica (Clark's friend) and I went and saw Gladys Knight. It was really amazing. The message was great! Especially for all the southern Baptists that are here. Both she and her husband were Baptists and both told their conversion story. There were a lot of referral cards filled out that night. The missionaries will love that. You had to take a nonmember to get tickets. Good thing Clark came through for us. The only concern we had is if these people come to a regular Sunday church meeting. They'll be a little sad that there isn't as much singing and Hallelujahs as there were this night. Different cultures are so great! If you haven't heard any of her stuff with the SUV Chior, check this out. http://suvchoir.org/index.html. Click on the CD button at the top of the page to get a sample of their songs.

Fall is in the air.

We've had a couple of weeks of cold weather now and the leaves are rapidly falling from the trees.

It's now the season for sitting by the fire and sipping hot chocolate to beat the chill in the air. It's the time to prepare for the holidays, gather with family and friends, to remember what we're thankful for and taking the time to remember the real reason we celebrate this time of year.

With Mom and Dad being so far from home this site is giving them a taste of home so let's all remember to keep posting to this as often as we can and if we have to, make time to do so. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

Love Kathy and Brian

Father Christmas

Hello everyone! Halloween is over and the holidays will soon be upon us. This is just a reminder that The Hatch Clan will be acting as Father Christmas this year. Please send your GENEROUS contributions to Cathy and Jason ASAP. I think, to be fair to them and their very busy schedule, we should try to get our donations sent to them by November 30th.

Their mailing address is:
1035 N 260th E
Lehi, UT 84043

Thanks everyone!

As a side note, I feel compelled to remind everyone to fast and pray for Brent. I feel that he is wrestling with some pretty big demons lately - discouragement, doubt, a little bit of anger, and even despair. If you want to drop him a line, his email address (he has a new one) is brc4evr@yahoo.com. He is such a good man, such a good, good brother - not perfect, but who among us is perfect? I love him so much.

Shoot, I love all ya'll!
