One of my favorite teachers was Mrs. Root in 2nd grade. Her parents were deaf, so we learned sign language that year as we practiced our ABC's. That year was also significant because I learned that if you stood on the wooden seats on the swings you could really fly high. One day I was swinging way up there. I was wearing a dress that day and loved the way it flapped in the air. I felt like Alice in Wonderland. I figured everyone down below watching me was amazed at how high I was swinging. Yeah... that was it. :) - Camille

I attened Littlefield Elementary School from K-8. I was bitter at the time because my friends in Mesquite called me "flaming eagle", UCLA (University of children Littlefield Arizona), etc. I always arrived late to football practice because of the travel time to Mesquite. All my siblings got to go to Mesquite earlier (most after 5th or 6th grade) and I always wanted to go. However, I'll never forget attending school in the old school building, I was there when all of the modulars were brought in. I remember all the playground equipment when it was new (teeter tawter, swings, merry go round, monkey bars) along with the concrete work.
Mrs. Jones used to make homemade meals for lunch and they were great. Mrs. Hughes, Mr. Sullivan, Mr. Finlindson, Mr & Mrs. Montgomery, & Ms. Reyes all taught me while I was there.
I remember getting paddled. I had broom sticks, boards, and the paddles with the holes in them all broken over my back side (a few of which I still don't think I deserved). One time I got 10 swats for braking up a fight. Ok I probably deserved all the rest. I broke Brett Millers arm by pushing him into a tree while playing pump. I broke JD Frisbys arm playing chicken, I broke Ryan Bakers arm pushing him into the wall while playing pump (we weren't supposed to play pump, thus the woopins).
I remember Uncle Merv driving the short bus (ya I heard about that too).
I learned a lot and the teachers really cared. I hope my kids receive as much attention and one day appreciate their teachers and school as much as I do now.

Heidi-- It was story time and I didn't feel so good. So i raised my hand to ask my teacher if i could go to the office. She told me just a minute Heidi let me finish the story. I raised my hand again and she told me just a minute. A couple seconds later i barfed in the hair of the girl sitting in front of me.

When i moved in, On the first day of school, A girl came up to me and was like "Are you Heidi Hatch?" i was like "ya" she said "do you remember me?" I said"sorry no." The next day i realized, it was the little girl i had barfed on.
